18th-Oct-2009 07:08 pm - Spooks and Spiders and Things that go Bump in the Night Drabblefest!
ext_115: great white shark looking over several small fish with an intelligently hungry gleam in its eye (abc | trick or treat)
Because it is Midnight in London. (WAY TO GO THERE GMT!)

This drabblefest is ALL about the Best Holiday Ever: Halloween! Three different types of prompt (poetry, quotation, words and phrases) in sets of thirteen.

It is also probably a good idea to mention that while the Best Holiday Ever inspired the prompt set, inclusion of the Best Holiday Ever is not by any means a requirement for this episode of Drabblefest: All drabbles are good drabbles!

1) Prompts are not exclusive. There is no limit on the number of people who may write about a prompt, and there is no need to claim prompts.

2) Post responses in the comments and include the lead character and your prompt in the subject line. If you choose a long prompt, you may use just the first few words.

3) Responses may be any length from a proper 100-word drabble to a multi-chapter epic. If the story is too long for comments, you may post it elsewhere and comment with the link.

4) There is no time limit for this challenge. I will return to index the responses in a week or so.

5) Please leave feedback, respond to feedback, and pimp this post around.

6) If your response is rated NC-17 or would require a content warning (for rape, graphic violence, etc.), you may post it in the comments here but you must include the relevant rating or warning in the subject line. (Rule Six is mandatory, guys!) [see moderators' note]

20th-Sep-2009 04:57 pm - Best damn drabble fest in the 'verse
This round of drabble prompts consists of quotations from Firefly and Serenity, but you don't need to be familiar with that canon to understand the prompts or participate in the challenge. Crossovers would be welcome, but they are certainly not required. As always, you should use the prompts as loosely and freely as you desire. There is no requirement to include the quotation in your story. Rules are below.

(Mod, if you were going to decide something different, please let me know.)

Edited to add: Responses were indexed on 9/26/09. If you still want to write, go ahead! I will add new responses to the index in a week or so.

If the mods disapprove of the topic (wasn't sure how dream casting was looked-on here), feel free to delete the post.

I was watching the Reboot earlier, and wondering what Nurse Chapel would have looked like, had she appeared. Does anyone have any actresses that they'd love to see play her in future films? Anyone's game, really. I've seen Kristen Bell suggested before, and I kind of like her in that role. But I'd also be curious to see who you guys think is made for the Starfleet blues.

Also, one of my favorites, Yeoman Rand, wasn't in the film. Who would you like to see cast as her? I have a harder time picking someone for her, and, unfortunately, haven't heard much actress speculation relating to her. I think it's because of her awesome hair, and how hard it is to imagine her as anyone else. ^^;;

Feel free to chime-in with dream casting for any TOS-era woman (Number One, Joanna McCoy, etc). I'd love to hear your opinions. ^^
