Welcome to June's Drabblefest, The Story Dice Drabblefest.

What are Story Dice you may ask? They're the stock plots that action/adventures series run on. As you look at the list below, think of all the times you've seen that plot or a variation of that plot on one of your favourite series. They have become clichés precisely because they never get old, and always illuminate different aspects of characters and their relationships. Think about how much fun they are, and how they can change from show to show. For example, what would be a tragedy in one series would be an hysterical comedy on another. Or, if you're Farscape, BOTH. Think about how different "Turnabout Intruder" might have been had it been Kira who suddenly found herself in a Gul Dukat's body. Or "The Enemy Within" if Number One had been split in half--logical and efficient on one side, sultry and violent on the other... And who doesn't love a Trek twist on "The Prince and the Pauper"?

All of the examples below after the name of the prompt itself are guidelines--feel free to interpret the prompts creatively!

Hi! For the first drabblefest of the new year, I chose the theme "how it begins." These prompts are the first lines of novels, poems, and essays. Some are famous, and some are obscure things I found and thought, ooh, prompty!

As always, the prompts are just starting points for inspiration. Crossovers, AUs, and original characters are all welcome, as long as the result features a woman (or female of any species!) in the Star Trek universe. Let your imagination go where it will, and happy new writing year!

Hello people! I can't believe I hadn't really heard of this community before, it's AWESOME. I posted a fic yesterday, and someone told me I should share it here so er, here it is!

Title: I told you your dreams would come true
Author: alldoubtaboutit
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Demora Sulu, Pavel Chekov/Hikaru Sulu, ensemble.
Warning: allusion to character death at the end
Type: oneshot
Word count: 5,842 words

Summary: Demora Sulu is the daughter of Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu. Once upon a time her daddy told her, mouth pressed to the crown of her head, that all children are dreamed into existence by their parents.

Notes: I've been meaning to write something like this for a while now, a fic squarely from the perspective of an (adopted) Asian girl without a mother growing up in the Star Trek world, and perhaps more so, a fic about finding one's identity and family. Hope it fits into the theme of this comm well enough.

About Demora's origin, it is based on this fic I wrote a while back but this fic stands independently on its own.

And a helpful key: Sulu is 'daddy', Chekov is 'papa'. :D

Title: The Le'Matya Sleeps Tonight

Rating: 'R' for some graphic violence and mature topics.
Continuity: Post the hand-wavey version of "These Are the Adventures", as retconned by "The Good That Men Do", minus the bits where T'Pol is a trout weepy, bondless imbecile. Also borrows heavily from various pro-fic. I grabbed the ball "The Seventh" dropped and ran with it all the way out of bounds.
