Drabble fest prompt writing sign-up
ETA: All dates have been filled. The next round of sign-ups will be in March, and I will open the post first to those who have not yet had an opportunity to write prompts.
If you want to write prompts for our drabble fests, this post is the place to sign up. About 60% of you voted that you would like to participate in fests once a month, but I noticed that many of our regular drabble writers requested every two weeks. Also, it looks like quite a few of you would like the opportunity to write prompts. As a result, in order to maximize participation opportunities for everyone, I included two fests in October, February, and March but only one in November, December, and January -- the months when I imagine a lot of us are participating in holiday fic exchanges and have lots of RL commitments. Hopefully, the arrangement is satisfactory to everyone.
If you are interested in writing prompts, please consider these responsibilities:
1. Keep track of the day you're assigned to post prompts - I won't be sending out reminder emails, and I would prefer not to get out the poky stick. Actually, I don't even have a poky stick right now, and I'd prefer not to get one.
2. Provide 20+ prompts that could be applied to any canon or character (82% of you voted that you prefer it this way). You may post some character-specific prompts if you wish, but be sure that the majority of your prompts are more open-ended.
3. Pimp your post to relevant communities like
st_reboot
4. If you need to drop out, please let me know ASAP by commenting to the page-a-mod post. Better yet, if you know someone who could fill in for you, just arrange it with them and let me know about the change.
5. I hesitate to include this as an actual responsibility since it's kind of time-consuming, but it would be awesome if you wished to index the responses after the fest is over.
6. Include the appropriate rules in your prompt post.
1) Prompts are not exclusive. There is no limit on the number of people who may write about a prompt, and there is no need to claim prompts.
2) Post responses in the comments and include the lead character and your prompt in the subject line. If you choose a long prompt, you may use just the first few words.
3) Responses may be any length from a proper 100-word drabble to a multi-chapter epic. If the story is too long for comments, you may post it elsewhere and comment with the link.
4) There is no time limit for this challenge. I will return to index the responses in a week or so.
5) Please leave feedback, respond to feedback, and pimp this post around.
6) If your response is rated NC-17 or would require a content warning (for rape, graphic violence, etc.), you may post it in the comments here but you must include the relevant rating or warning in the subject line.
Sign-up dates are below. I claimed the first October fest for myself since I already had prompts prepared, and I assume no one else did. Posts should go up on the first Monday of the month, and in some cases, also the 3rd Monday of the month. The sign-ups are for October through March, which I imagine is as far forward as we can reasonably plan. Please sign up for one date only. I will be around off and on this afternoon, so I should be able to mark off the dates as people claim them, but it wouldn't hurt to check the comments to make sure your chosen date hasn't been taken.
ETA: Since people have been asking, it's perfectly okay to sign up to write prompts even if you haven't written for a drabble fest previously. We want to give more people more ways to participate, not create some weird exclusive drabble writing clique!

Oh, excellent! I am hoping to drag some horror writing out of our members because this fandom needs more fic that sends chills down our collective spine.

Also, the fact I haven't participated yet doesn't mean I haven't been interested; just that I've had 378465986345 things on my plate. Edit: Er, by which I mean to say, I will understand, though, if you'd rather someone who has been more involved get priority. :)

If you don't mind somebody who tends to read the posts more than than anything thus far, I'd love to take December 1st as the first available date open, even if I know it's a busy season for most people.
