where_no_woman's Winter Wishlist Fest! What is a wishlist fest, you ask? Basically, it's a no-pressure, no-obligation, fun way to share gifts with your fellow community members. Any member of the comm may post a wish list describing the characters, pairings, or scenarios they like, and anyone else can fill their requests. Posting a list doesn't obligate you to grant wishes, and you can fulfill requests even if you didn't post a list. Of course, fests like this are most successful if people give as well as receive, so if you do post a list, please consider making something for someone else.
This post is for posting wish lists only. Outside the question thread, any comments that are not wish lists will be deleted.
Making Wishes
1. All Star Trek franchises are eligible.
2. You may request stories, art, icons, fanmixes, rec lists, remixes of your fics - anything goes, as long as it is female-focused!
3. You can request as much or as little as you want, but your request must fit in one comment box.
4. Format your wishlist as follows:
Canon: AOS, DS9, etc.
Characters/Pairings: pretty self-explanatory
I'd like to receive: Fic, art, fanmixes, etc. - let us know what you want. If you are requesting something related to one of your own works, such as a remix, please provide the relevant link.
Likes: This could include genres, themes, tropes, etc.
Dislikes: Please make sure you share any squicks or triggers.
Prompts: This section is optional. You can include scenarios, song lyrics, an interesting picture, or anything else that strikes your fancy.

Am I being too picky?
Canon: TOS (TV and films), AOS, DS9.
Characters/ Pairings: Uhura, Chapel, Kira, Jadzia, Ezri, Kai Winn.
I'd like to receive: My first love is fic, but art or vids would also make me very happy.
Likes: I love gen, especially stories that portray friendship between women. That said, no objection to stories that include het or femslash. I also like stories that explore the beliefs or motivations of characters, or 'fish out of water' stories where characters are dealing with situations they're not used to. I also like the kind of AU which explores what might have happened if a character had chosen differently.
Dislikes: PWP; high school/ present day/ regency/ bakery/ coal-mining (OK, I'll be serious, you get the picture) etc AU. I tend to be a canon-shipper but I have enjoyed stories about non- or counter-canonical ships - I do dislike it when people character-bash in order to break ships up (so I am happy to read about Uhura being shipped with someone who's not Spock, but please don't turn him into an abusive boyfriend).
Actual squicks: graphic depictions of child abuse or non-con, or stories which romanticise non-con of any kind.

Likes: I will enjoy anything with good characterization, so back stories and character studies are especially welcome. I love stories about every day life on the Enterprise or at the Academy, but I also love seeing female characters be BAMFs at their jobs (which doesn't necessarily have to be an action story, though it could be). I love stories where women rescue or protect men, both physically and emotionally. Some other things I like: logic/Socratic dialogue, stories in which food and cooking are important, characters who are flawed but still sympathetic, characters who are afraid/insecure but manage to save the day anyway, and stories with bittersweet endings. Also, feel free to turn any of the pairings above into friendship fic.
Dislikes: rape, extremely graphic violence, extreme angst, romantic cliches (let's get you out of those wet clothes, etc.), kink (not making a judgment here - just a very vanilla fangirl)

I'd like to receive: Icons. I'd really love some good Janeway icons, especially ones with my 3TPs (see above). I've seen some icons around, but they tend to be rather busy (a lot of text on the pics), so I'd love to see a few simpler ones. (I've made a couple myself, but visual art of any kind isn't my strong point.)
I'd certainly be up for Janeway fic, too, if you were so inclined.

Additional Info: I didn't want to list it as a dislike or a squick since it isn't, but if you're going to write something seasonal, please don't make it about Christmas. Any other winter (or end-of-the-year) holiday is fine (especially Chanukah!)

Likes: Gen/friendship please? If you want to do a pairing like Uhura/Gaila that's okay but I don't feel slashy right now. I love back story and strong female characters who can stand up to adversity, even if they have doubts about themselves. I don't mind light violence if it's necessary for the story line, but please try and keep this mild R at the most. Just allude to things like rape, child abuse, etc and only if it helps point out how the character has been able to grow and move beyond it all.
Dislikes: Please no unhappy endings, no noncon/dubcon/rape/etc.
Prompts: Adversity or a bad situation is okay, but I'd like to see a happy ending. It *is* the holidays after all. :} If you want to explore what the holidays might be like for a specific culture that would be great [Orion, Uhura's Africa, Caitian, etc] - I love inside views of different cultures and if it's a non-Christmas holiday, so much the better. Or how the character views this 'silly human holiday'. IDIC after all.

Dislikes: modern life AUs, very cracktastic AUs (ex: Uhura is a jellyfish and Gaila a squirrel, and together they win a talent show by riverdancing), deathfic.

This isn't to say that I don't like ANY ST tropes or kinks, just that it really has to make sense for the story and the characters for me to like it. Basically, Gaila and Kirk can be kinky, but it has to make sense and not demean the characters.

Likes: Intellectual badassery, witty repartee, deviousness, being passionate about one's career, female friendships, food/drink/eating/cooking, linguistics, science. I also love to see characters who don't normally (or never) talk to each other meet up.
Dislikes: I'm pretty sensitive about ableism coming from an author, but I have no problem seeing a character have to deal with ableism (or any other -ism) as part of the plot. Feel free to PM me if you have concerns.
